About Our Location

Nestled in the centre of Edgbaston, our venue offers the perfect blend of accessibility via any mode of transport – Car, Bus, Cycle and Walking. The pool is between the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Five Ways, the train station (Five Ways) being just a 18 minute walk away!

Once you arrive, a locker key will be provided to you as well as directions to the changing rooms. Hot showers, toilets and changing cubicles are provided. A viewing area is available to parents or carers who wish to view their children swimming in comfort.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Am I too old for swimming lessons?

Competent Swimming is suitable for any child above the age of four and any adult regardless of their age.

How quickly will I learn how to swim?

It depends on how much effort you put in to each Competent Swimming lesson and if you practice what you have learnt outside of Competent Swimming. However many people who take lessons learn how to swim with foundational technique after 5 weekly lessons.

I want to learn a specific stroke or skill, can I still join?

Absolutely. Tell your teacher you would like to learn a specific stroke or skill (i.e. Treading Water) and they will run through specific exercises to help you learn this.

Does the instructor get into the water with me/my child?

If you can't swim on your front with foundational technique your instructor will be in the pool with you. This is to keep you safe and give you more confidence to push you beyond your comfort zone.

What do I need to bring with me?

All of the details such as what you will need to bring, parking, what you will learn will be explained in your introductory information pack. However; swimming suit, goggles, water bottle and a towel.
